Everton are closing in on striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu for a club record £11million (US$22million), according to reports.
Middlesbrough forward Yakubu looks set to join Everton along with midfielder Manuel Fernandes, who is expected to complete his medical on Friday.
The Portuguese 21-year-old arrived at the club on Thursday, as a £6million (US$12million) deal was being formulated to capture him from Benfica.
Sources have said Everton will pay £6million (US$12million) to Benfica for 50 per cent of Fernandes, and have reached agreement with Global Sports Agency for the other 50 per cent.
According to news reports, Nigerian international Yakubu has been left out of the team travelling to London to face Fulham on Saturday.
And after being snubbed by Boro boss Gareth Southgate, he is reported to be un-happy at the club, and has now set his sights on a move to Goodison Park.
