Sheffield United have ramped up the pressure in their fight for justice against West Ham United over the Blades' relegation from the Premier League.
Club lawyers have vowed to do "everything within our power" to reclaim "substantial compensation" for loss of earnings, due to West Ham's "breach of contract" to the Premier League over the Carlos Tevez transfer saga. Reports suggest that level of compensation could be anywhere from sixty to one hundred million dollars.
The action by Sheffield United will come as a further blow to West Ham and the Premier League who considered the matter closed after recent arbitration concluded that no further punishment was warranted.
However, Blades' chairman Kevin McCabe has refused to give in, accusing Tevez's former employers of admitting to "lying to the Premier League" in regard to his eligibility to continue playing, ultimately costing McCabe's side another lucrative season in the top flight.
It is not known whether the other Premier League clubs who rallied behind Sheffield United after their relegation will assist them in their fight.
Amid all the uncertainty, one thing is clear, now that the football season has begun, there is no chance of either of the teams directly involved in this fight swapping positions in the respective leagues.
West Ham have fourteen days to respond to this notice of arbitration, and in the meantime both clubs must concentrate their efforts on the pitch.
